Our up-dated version of the La Gard 2200 Variable Tool comes with a Variable Magnetic Indicator with felt pen.
This year we have reviewed the way that we have worked with this tool and upgraded it by changing the Thumb-turn. The T/T now slides along the stem so that you are able to bring the T-T right up to the safe door face. This removes the ‘end-weight’ which can affect picking. Or position the T-T where you like. The T-T now has a pointer which is useful for indicating where you are within the lever pack.
And of course it comes with the VMI which enables you to plot your actions using the felt pen.
Technical INFORMATION
Construction:
The tool is a precision engineered tool and is constructed of Grade 303 Stainless Steel with the Thumb-turn. I designed this tool with a sliding Aluminium Thumb-turn instead of a bar, to give more control over manipulation and reduce the tools’ ‘end weight’.
The tool has various indication lines to achieve the following:
1. Positioning of the pick within the wheel pack.
2. Positioning the drive wheel under the drop arm nose in just a few seconds.
3. Positioning each of the four wheels at their original code settings [if a key or original code is available].
Characteristics:
This tool is not affected by a worn key-way. [We have come across many locks which have badly worn key-ways, to the extent that the key guide [tooth] no longer exists within the entrance to the lock-case]. Once proficient, set-up time for this tool/pick is just about zero, except for checking the handing of the lock, and also checking that all the wheels are at the start position.
Optional Equipment: 1. If you are new to this lock, you are advised to take advantage of the indication lines and use the pointer to indicate the linear position of the pick within the lock. 2. A felt pen on the VMI is useful to mark the position where you have parked each wheel. As you become more proficient there will probably be no need for these procedures. 3. An audio amplifier is also an advantage as the sound and/or tactile characteristics of this lock vary greatly between locks depending upon usage and age of the lock. More details regarding the above characteristics will be enclosed as part of the Instructions, with the tool.
Times for opening vary, but anything between 5mins to 15 mins depending on the condition of the lock. Reply. My best time on site is 6 min without a listening aid or amplifier. Worst 35mins .
